Someone told me that this is from deer blood that got on the barrel and ruined the bluing. The receiver is perfect but the barrel has a lot of spots where there isn't any blue. The 7.5" is fine for hunting and at handgun ranges it suits most people just fine, I just prefer the longer barrel. Sako Finnbear Sporter has a great bright bore, the wood has some shallow marks on it. Back in the 70's I started handgun hunting with a 7.5" SBH then I switched to a 10.5" SBH. As well as the overall length is only a third the length. the weight is nothing compared to my 30-06 Sako Finnbear with Scope, less than half. Reluctantly it had to go back to its owner in Eire when they lifted the legal Deer calibre to. I have had 2 Mod.75s but that old Finnbear was a masterpiece. Excellent trigger and a fine accurate rifle. I would hunt with a 12.5" barreled SRH if I could get one. I used this as a work tool for some years since 1976 when I acquired it. I have tested the speed difference and with slow burning pistol powders like H-110 it usually nets about 70 to 100 fps depending on the individual firearm. I hunt with the 9.5 SRH have had 7.5" models, not any more accurate than the 7.5" with a scope but does give a longer sight radius without a scope making it more forgiving. It will weigh about 4 lbs + or minus an once or 2 empty with the scope if it's a 44 mag a little less if it's a 454.
